Cortical cartography

A first-of-its-kind atlas — the Population-Average, Landmark and Surface-based (PALS) Atlas — accurately portrays the complex folds of the cerebral cortex, linking brain functions to its various peaks and valleys. The atlas is a resource for neuroscientists to determine the functions of brain areas as well as a repository for adding new data that expand and fine-tune the atlas’ maps.
